ISO 9001:2000
Through the successful implementation of and certification to the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System in 2003, Mlekara Subotica has stepped into a completely new world of operations, where consumer and customer satisfaction, and indirectly, the satisfaction of others involved in milk production and processing, is defined as an ultimate goal. The application scope of ISO 9001:2000 Standards covers all activity areas of Mlekara.

HACCP
The HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) food safety management system was introduced in 2005, thus Mlekara Subotica became the first among the dairies in Serbia which was positively assessed during the certification process by the international certification body OQS from Austria. Under this international standard the risks and critical control points are analysed in all processes having influence on the quality of products and food safety.

British Retail Consortium
Modern EU markets rely on large retail chains, which do not wish to assume the risk of selling food products without guaranteed health safety. In order to protect key accounts, higher standards were set for food and these are to be observed by food producers, if they wish to supply large retail chains. One of these highly demanding standards is BRC (British Retail Consortium), which was introduced by Mlekara in 2006 for the production and packaging of FDPs.

HALAL

Halal certificate is a requirement to all producers who wish to sell their products on the markets of the Islamic states, or to consumers from the Islamic communities living in other countries. It is recommended that companies applying for HALAL certification are already certified to ISO and HACCP, however it is not the only condition to be certified to HALAL. If conditions are met, the Agency issues the HALAL certificate thus permitting production and export to Arabic countries. The certificate is issued for a period of one year. In order to fulfil the requirements of the Islam religion, HALAL certified products mustn't contain additives and emulgators harmful for health. Also, they mustn’t contain any impurity originating from hog, and emulgator E120 used for colour production and obtained from insects, is also forbidden. Likewise, alcohol, the use of liquors in candy products and all additives used for stiffening the product and are originating from hog, are forbidden. Practically, it means that the dairy mustn’t disinfect the plant with means containing alcohol, and huge attention should be devoted to additives in the production. HALAL
